Chess Playing Robot

Our senior advisor Tom is spearheading the development of the chess playing robot. The robot uses a gantry crane system to move its claw on the chess board to pick up and drop game pieces.

BB-8 Robot

Last year Harvey created a simple prototype of the BB-8 Robot that can be remotely controlled. However that prototype was missing the second ball that acted as BB-8's head. After Southeast Con, we are planning to finish the project to wrap up our year.

Past Projects

Laser Harp

The Laser Harp was designed as a means of promoting cross-discipline engineering by creating a series of musical instruments that converted readings from the breaking of laser beams into musical notes.

IEEE Drink Maker

Duke IEEE constructed a drink maker to show off at Duke’s Founders’ Day event in 2014. The drink maker was controlled using Bluetooth communication from a phone to measure out and mix certain ratios of ingredients to make a fantastic beverage. President Brodhead was the first person to try it out!
